Lauren Conrad and Brody Jenner had "zero chemistry".

Although Lauren insists her relationship with the 32-year-old son of Caitlyn Jenner on 'The Hills' was not fake, she admitted that they exaggerated it for the cameras of the MTV reality TV show.

Speaking during the anniversary special, 'The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now', Lauren said: "I definitely had a crush on Brody, but the funny thing was we had zero chemistry. He was my friend. I enjoyed spending time with him, but it just always felt forced.

"We knew the cameras were making it look like more than it was. And there was so much pressure on me at that point to get a boyfriend or date someone who was willing to film that I just sort of let them do whatever they wanted."

However, Lauren, 30 - who married William Tell in 2014 - revealed that her heartbreak over her split from Jason Wahler was real and she was devastated that she couldn't help him to get sober.

She said: "That really broke me, because I felt like a responsibility to take care of him, and I felt like when we broke up I was abandoning him. Because there were a lot of nights that I was getting 2 am phone calls and I had to go pick him up passed out in the back of a club. So I was like who is doing that now, I know he doesn't have friends who are doing it...I was like, oh god, no one is taking care of him."

However, Jason, 29, managed to get his life together off camera, getting sober and tying the knot with Ashley Slack in 2013 and Lauren is happy for him.

She said: "Jason's story has a happy ending. He is sober now and married and very happy."

Despite everything, Lauren says she has no regrets about taking part in the reality TV show but is happy she quit when she did.

She said: "I took a really long time to decide when I was gonna leave the show. It was hard on my relationships. It was hard on me. So, that was when I knew it was time to go was when my heart wasn't in it, and I wasn't living the kind of life that made me happy."
