Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj are to perform together at the MTV Video Music Awards

The 'Dangerous Woman' hitmaker and the 33-year-old 'Anaconda' rapper will showcase their new song 'Side by Side' at the awards ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday

In a video promoting the show, Ariana says: "When you take the stage at the VMAs you step into another world.

    "It's not just a performance, it's a statement."

The 23-year-old pop beauty has also teased that she will "share [her] voice like it's never been heard before".

Meanwhile, MTV have also revealed that Kim Kardashian West, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Alicia Keys, Fifth Harmony, Jaden Smith, Shameik Moore and Tove Lo are among those who will be dishing out the Moonman statutes.

Britney Spears has already been confirmed to perform at the star-studded bash.

She said: "The VMAs don't just give you a stage. They give you a story - some way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever. Before you know it, it's history. Before you know it, it's Britney, bitch!"

Britney will perform her new single 'Make Me' from her upcoming album 'Glory' and will be joined on stage by G-Eazy.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé - who is up for an incredible 11 prizes at the VMAs - is also said to be in talks to take to the stage.

A source previously said: "Their main goal would be to have Beyoncé perform a medley of hits, but as nothing has been locked in yet they are also considering reaching out to other stars for a tribute performance."

And Rihanna is to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the star-studded bash.

The 28-year-old pop star is set to be feted for her "decade-long impact on music, pop culture, fashion, film and philanthropy".

Rihanna tweeted after the announcement: "Honored to take the #VMAs stage as your video #VANGUARD award recipient LIVE from NYC on August 28! (sic)"
