Sir Cliff Richard isn't planning to retire

The 75-year-old singer - who has suffered a difficult two years after being accused of historic sexual abuse, only for the charges to be dropped due to a lack of evidence - insists he never worries about his advancing years, and just carries on doing what he's happy with.

He said: "It's important not to give in to age. It's just a state of mind. You need to keep your state of mind clear.

"Retirement is not in my vocabulary. It's too easy for us to think, 'Oh, I'm 76, I can't be seen doing that'. That's wrong, just wear what you're going to wear. Be what you are going to be."

And the 'Bachelor Boy' hitmaker, whose younger sister Donna Goulden passed away earlier this month, insists he is still in very good health but has frequent medical checks.

He said: "I've been fortunate, I've not had any major illness. I haven't had to deal with that. When I go on tour, I have to have this insurance company that covers me.

"I have to get checked up for everything."

Cliff may have sold over 250 million records around the world but he is still ambitious because he has never reached "perfection".

He told Portugal's Kiss FM: "The dreams never really stop. I've made records, done concerts, been in movies. What else is there to do?

"Yet you still have ambition to do it properly. You never get to perfection.

"I've got to do my perfect pop/rock album. I've got to do everything again and again until I do it right.

"Most people still think of me as 'Summer Holiday', 'Bachelor Boy', 'Congratulations' but I also do 'Devil Woman' and a whole bunch of stuff that has never been explored.

"It's still a dream of mine to do the Albert Hall for a month - for one day on, one day off, so I get a day off in between each performance. That's the dream."
