Adele dedicated her Madison Square Garden show to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

The 28-year-old pop star performed at the famous New York venue on Tuesday, and said she was playing the show for the Hollywood power couple, describing their split as "the end of an era"

after the 'Maleficent' actress filed for divorce from the 'Fury' actor on Monday.

Speaking at the show, the 'Hello' hitmaker said: "Brangelina have broken up. I mean, I don't like gossiping and I think private lives should be private but I feel like it's the end of an era.

"I'm dedicating this show tonight to them because honestly, I'm really really sad. Genuinely!

"I don't know them at all, but I was shocked when I woke up this morning, no word of a lie. I'm glad I spoke about that because it was playing on my mind."

Angelina split from the actor after she was reportedly left "extremely upset" by the way the 52-year-old actor had been treating their six children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight.

The 41-year-old beauty is seeking joint legal custody of their children, but wants to take full physical custody with Brad allowed access to visitation rights.

Her longtime manager Geyer Kosinki said: "Angelina is doing what's best in the interest of taking care of her children. She appreciates everyone's understanding of their need for privacy at this time."

Entertainment attorney Robert Offer added: "Angelina has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family.

"She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."
