Melissa McCarthy feels "real weird" when her family are not around

The 'Ghostbusters' star always make sure her children Georgette, six, and Vivian, nine - who she has with her husband Ben Falcone - join them on set from time to time so they can see their parents working.

She said: "They're in it because they are always on set. I like them to know that when we are here and not with them that we are actually working. I do think sometimes it's good to come and see.

"We pick up and move like a tribe. We don't separate well. I get real weird without Ben and the kids. I get real squirrely. It's too quiet ... After 45 minutes of quiet I'm like, 'Where is everybody?'"

Melissa recently starred in 'Life of the Party' - which was directed by her husband Ben - and really enjoyed having her dad and her father in law make cameos in the movie.

She told Entertainment Tonight: "It's a little surreal to have my dad and then my father-in-law yelling at Maya Rudolph and I in the scene, but it's really funny because they are getting into it. The more we do it, the longer their improvs get. I'm like, 'Alright guys, wrap it up.'"

Meanwhile, the 46-year-old actress previously revealed she is desperately trying to teach her daughters to accept compliments.

She said: "I hope it’s one of many ways that I show my girls that it’s okay to like who you are. It’s okay that everybody’s different. I always say to my girls, ‘If we were all the same, we would all be robots. You would be bored out of your mind.’ Hopefully it’s working."
