Sophie Turner has promised the new season of 'Game of Thrones' is "really exciting"

The 20-year-old actress reprises her role as Sansa Stark in the upcoming seventh and penultimate series of the HBO fantasy drama series and thinks the 2017 episodes are setting things up for a "big conclusion".

She said: "What overall excites me about this season is that main characters are coming together and it feels like things are ramping up.

"It's really exciting and all feels like it's coming to a big conclusion."

After defeating her evil husband Ramsay Bolton and helping reclaim her family home of Winterfell last series, season seven will see Sansa more "in control" than she's ever been and on a "power trip", but that doesn't mean things will go smoothly for Sophie's alter ego.

She told Entertainment Weekly: "She's seemingly in control for the first time - and it really suits her.

"She's kind of having a bit of a power trip. But she's also becoming more insecure, because there are threats to the power that she holds."

The British beauty - who is rumoured to be dating Joe Jonas - recently admitted she isn't ready for the popular show to end as it's been such a big part of her life.

She said: "I'm probably sadder than you guys are. It's been my life since I was 13, so I'm pretty sad about it.

"It's crazy when the show finishes I'll pretty much be the same age Kit [Harington] was when he started ... which is crazy. I don't know what I'm going to do with my life."

Meanwhile, the 'X-Men: Apocalypse' star previously admitted fame forced her to "grow up faster".

She shared: "I definitely felt I had to grow up faster than I would have done. I'm very driven in terms of work, but I'm almost more playful and silly than my friends. I cling onto childhood.

"Having a cynical perspective is best; in this industry, there's just a lot of rejection. We all have that mentality, where we know we're expendable. We all just thought, this is a job. Try not to get fired."
