Keith Urban didn't call Nicole Kidman back because he thought she was "out of his league"

The 'Lion' star recently revealed that she waited for four months for her now-husband to call her back when they first met in January 2005 and Keith has now given his side of the story.

Asked on the red carpet at the Grammys on Sunday evening (12.02.17) why he never called Nicole back, he quipped: "That's the longest story. Have you ever met anyone who you thought was completely our of your league?"

Meanwhile, the 49-year-old actress - who shares Sunday, eight, and Faith, six, with her spouse - previously revealed she was instantly smitten when she first met Keith.

She said: "I had such a crush on him and he wasn't interested in me. It's true! He didn't call me for four months."

And asked if she'd ever confront him about it, she joked back: "There's certain things - and I think anyone in a marriage would agree with this - you just leave there. We're here now and it's all good we don't need to hash up all that stuff."

Keith had to walk the red carpet at the Grammys on his own as Nicole was in London at the British Academy Film Awards, where she was nominated in the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category for her role in 'Lion'.

The blonde beauty's children - which also includes Connor, 22, and Isabella, 24, who she has with her ex-husband Tom Cruise - were also absent from the event and whilst walking the red carpet, Nicole admitted her younger kids wouldn't approve of her daring low-cut gown.

She said: "It's too low. If they'd had their say I wouldn't have been allowed out in it because it's low cut!

"They would have gone, 'No, mum. That's a rude dress.' They like me more in dresses that make me look like a fairy or a princess."
