    Man charged after Redvale assault

    A woman has died after being assaulted at a Redvale property and a man faces charges.

    A 65-year-old man has been arrested and charged after an a 53-year-old woman died after an alleged assault at a property in Redvale.

    The arrest comes after an incident at a property East Coast Road on February 12, says Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby.

    A 53-year-old woman at the house was taken to Auckland Hospital with serious head injuries and passed away the following day.

    A 65-year-old man, who was there, has been charged with wounding causing grievous bodily harm.

    Police say the charge may be upgraded and they're not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.

    The man will next appear in the North Shore District Court on February 22.
