Sir Mick Jagger has led tributes to the late Chuck Berry
The rock 'n' roll legend passed away on Saturday (19.03.17) at the age of 90 and the Rolling Stones rocker has reached out on social media to thank the late musician for "all the inspirational music he gave us".

He wrote on Twitter: "I am so sad to hear of Chuck Berry's passing. I want to thank him for all the inspirational music he gave to us ...
"He lit up our teenage years, and blew life into our dreams of being musicians and performers ... His lyrics shone above others & threw a strange light on the American dream. Chuck you were amazing&your music is engraved inside us forever (sic)"
Whilst Bruce Springsteen added on his own account on the social media site: "Chuck Berry was rock's greatest practitioner, guitarist, and the greatest pure rock 'n' roll writer who ever lived ... This is a tremendous loss of a giant for the ages. -Bruce Springsteen (sic)"
Sir Rod Stewart posted his tribute message to the late musician, writing: "It started with Chuck Berry. He inspired us all. The 1st album I bought was Chuck's "Live at the Tivoli" and I was never the same ... I've been performing his "Sweet Little Rock & Roller" since 1974 and tonight at @ColosseumatCP, we will do it for him. (sic)"
And Gene Simmons wrote: "My profound respect and admiration to one of the founding fathers of rock and roll, who sadly passed today -- the late, great CHUCK BERRY (sic)"
St Charles County police confirmed Chuck passed away at his home in Missouri in a statement.
It read: "St Charles County police responded to a medical emergency on Buckner Road at approximately 12:40 p.m. today (Saturday, March 18). Inside the home, first responders observed an unresponsive man and immediately administered lifesaving techniques.
"Unfortunately, the 90-year-old man could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at 1:26 p.m. The St Charles County Police Department sadly confirms the death of Charles Edward Anderson Berry Sr., better known as legendary musician Chuck Berry. The family requests privacy during this time of bereavement."
