Cheryl gave birth in a luxurious maternity wing, where a room costs over £8,000 a night

The former Girls Aloud star and her partner Liam Payne welcomed their first child into the world earlier this week and there was no expense spared to ensure the birth was as comfortable as possible for Cheryl.

It is thought Cheryl welcomed the baby boy into the world in the luxurious private Kensington Wing at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where new mothers and their partners are given all they need.

As well as the excellent care, each room has en-suite facilities and full Wi-Fi access and a place for the partner to rest their weary head too.

On their official website, facilities at the private maternity wing are listed to include private consultation rooms for antenatal appointments, three labour rooms, a water birthing suite and a nursery, where they describe the experience as a "home away from home".

And Liam was by Cheryl's side when she gave birth.

A source said: "Liam didn't leave Cheryl's side throughout the birth, and like her, he is besotted with their new son and can't wait to take him home. This is the perfect Mother's Day for Cheryl.

"Liam was determined to support Cheryl at every step of the way, and did everything to make sure she was ok. This is a wonderful time for them, and they are both ecstatic to be parents. It's an incredibly exciting new chapter in their lives. Their family and friends are also delighted by the news and can't wait to meet their little one."

Whilst another insider added: "Cheryl and Liam are absolutely overjoyed with the new arrival. He is perfect in every way and there is a lot of love and happiness in their household.

"The whole family are over the moon. Cheryl has taken to motherhood really well, she is loving spending every minute with her new baby boy. He is her little Prince Charming. Cheryl had her mum close by and she has been an amazing support."
