Gary Lineker has congratulated his ex-wife on her pregnancy

37-year-old model Danielle Bux - who divorced Gary last year - has announced that she is expecting a baby with US lawyer Nate Greenwald, who she started dating in April 2016 after moving next door to him in Los Angeles, and Gary took to Twitter to send his good wishes.

He wrote: "Congratulations to you both x."

Gary and Danielle officially divorced in January 2016 but they had amicably separated some months previously.

The Welsh beauty then made the decision to relocate to LA to pursue an acting career and found love along the way with entertainment lawyer Nate, 41.

Meanwhile, former England and Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary has admitted he found it tough having to go through the break-up from Danielle in such a public way.

He said: "Obviously when you know you are going through something personal that you know is going to be public, it makes it quite difficult, and it becomes a weight on your shoulders."

However, they have remained close and he is said to get on well with Nate.

An insider recently explained: "Gary couldn't be happier for her.

"He thinks Nate is a nice bloke and has been for dinner with them a few times. They all get on."

Danielle also has a 14-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, while Gary has four sons from his first marriage to Michelle Cockayne and his reluctance to have more kids was reportedly one of the reasons for his split from Danielle.

Speaking about her pregnancy recently, a source said: "It's nice because Gary never wanted to have kids with her. That was one of the reasons they broke up. So she thought she might have missed her chance to have any more kids."
