Cheryl will be helped by her mother Joan in her family home as she adjusts to parenthood

The 33-year-old pop star gave birth to her first child with Liam Payne on Wednesday (22.03.17) and her mother Joan, 57, is now set to assist the musical duo as they deal with the challenges of raising their baby boy.

A source said: "Joan will be very much on hand to help out Cheryl and Liam during the early stages of the baby's life.

"It's not going to be forever, but Joan has a room in the house and will be staying for however long she's needed."

But while Joan is determined to offer as much support to her daughter as possible, she is also conscious that she doesn't want to step on her toes.

The source told The Sun newspaper: "Like any new grandmother, she just wants to offer as much support and possible, without treading on any footsteps.

"But her house in Newcastle is very much her home."

Cheryl - who has moved into Liam's home in Surrey, South East England

    - has previously admitted Joan is one of few people she feels able to trust.

She said: "I've come to the conclusion that I don't trust anybody in life except my mother and my dogs. I love having her there."

Shortly after Cheryl and Liam announced the arrival of their as-yet-unnamed baby boy, a string of famous faces took to social media to offer their congratulations.

Cheryl's former Girls Aloud bandmate Nadine Coyle wrote:

"Congratulations @cherylofficial I am so so happy for you & your precious little boy & family! Sending you loads of love! (sic)."

Elsewhere, Khloe Kardashian commented on Cheryl's Instagram snap of Liam and the baby: "Congratulations doll!!!! God bless your family!! I couldn't be happier for you love! (sic)."
