Fire crews battle large Invercargill blaze

A large fire at an industrial workshop in Invercargill overnight led to four trucks and 16 firefighters being called out to fight the blaze.

Firefighters spent more than three hours battling a large blaze at an industrial workshop in Invercargill overnight.

A security guard alerted emergency services to the fire, which broke out just before midnight on Friday at the Basstain Street workshop, the Fire Service says.

Four fire trucks and 16 firefighters tackled the fire and were able to save important business equipment.

However, the workshop suffered moderate damage.

The blaze was not thought to be suspicious, the Fire Service said.
