Aston Merrygold is “very excited” to become a father for the first time

The former JLS singer is set to enter the world of parenthood when his girlfriend of five years Sarah Lou Richards gives birth in the coming months, and although the process is daunting, the hunky singer can’t wait to meet his offspring

Aston and Sarah don’t yet know the sex of their baby as they want to keep the reveal a surprise, and the 29-year-old musician already knows how he wants to tell his friends and family.

He told the latest issue of OK! magazine: “I want to be one of those dads who sends out the text with the baby’s name, whether it’s a boy or girl, and the time of birth. That is the first official thing – I’m very excited.”

The ‘Beat Again’ hitmaker also told he publication that “Sarah and the baby are [his] priority now”, and blonde beauty Sarah revealed her beau has begun showing signs of being an emotional dad.

She said: “When Aston saw the heartbeat, it really got to him.”

Meanwhile, Aston recently revealed that Sarah - who is expected to give birth in January - has told him to start attending parenting classes with her so they can both be as ready as possible for their new arrival.

He said: "I definitely will go to the parenting classes as I can't even manage my own life.

"I'm definitely going to go to parenting classes - I've been told this as well so I have to go! Sarah has told me I've got to go. I'm looking forward to it.”

The pair found out they were expecting their first child in May but managed to keep their happy news a secret until September - when it was announced Aston was doing UK celebrity dance competition 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
