Acting Prime Minister Kelvin Davis answered several questions in Maori in parliament on Wednesday, and a National Party MP has reacted.
Replying to opposition leader Bill English on behalf of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Mr Davis spoke only in Maori.
There are translation services in the debating chamber.
National's Jonathan Coleman said it didn't make any difference to the quality of the answers.
"He can try answering questions in Maori but rubbish is rubbish whether you are speaking it in English or Maori," he said.
"I think he's going to be thoroughly lambasted in the papers tomorrow, he's probably getting a thrashing on Twitter right now."
