Keith Urban fell "in love" with Thanksgiving when he saw a traditional dinner

The Australian singer thought it was "insane" when he was presented with a festive feast by some friends and while the lavish spread was slightly overwhelming, the 'Woman' hitmaker was delighted to tuck in and try as much as possible

He recalled: "The first Thanksgiving I ever had here, which was 25 years ago, because I've been here a long time now. But the first one I ever had, I remember going to this family's home, they invited me to Thanksgiving, and I couldn't believe the volume of food. It was insane. I've never seen so much food in my life.

"Then after the food, there was like 12 desserts. I was like, 'Why are there so many desserts?' They said, 'Well, because every Aunt and every Grandma, everybody brought their thing, their special dessert, and you have to try every one of 'em.'

" I'm like, 'There's like three apple cobblers.' And they're like, 'Yeah, but they're made by different people and they're all watching, so you have to make sure you try everything up there.'

"I was in love with Thanksgiving immediately."

According to website Sounds Like Nashville, this year the 50-year-old singer's mother was flying in from Australia to spend Thursday's (23.11.17) holiday with him, his wife Nicole Kidman and their daughters Sunday, nine, and six-year-old Faith.

And Keith recently admitted his favourite thing about Thanksgiving is to have his friends and family around him.

He told iheartradio: "Without doubt having everybody in my house, huge feasts, we invite a lot of our friends over, it's just a great time for everybody...

"This year I'm most thankful for my family, friends, and the country music community."
