The 46-year-old comedian and actor is "thrilled" to have become an ambassador of the Surrey-based charity after supporting it for several years

He said: "I am absolutely thrilled to become an Ambassador for The Children's Trust. It's a charity I care greatly about, and every time I visit I am struck by its warm, caring atmosphere and the dedication of its staff. The Children's Trust is a very special place with incredibly inspiring young people. I feel very proud to be involved."

David shot to fame in 'Little Britain' alongside Matt Lucas and has since starred in a number of other TV shows including writing and starring in 'Big School' and 'Come Fly With Me'. He is also a judge on 'Britain's Got Talent'.

The comedian has also written a number of children's book that has sold more than 12.5 million copies, with the books having been translated into 46 languages and adapted for the screen.

The Trust helps children with brain injury and neurodisability, providing specialist rehabilitation, education and community services across the UK.

Dalton Leong, chief ex ecutive at The Children's Trust, added: "We are truly honoured to have David's support. He will be helping to raise awareness of brain injury and our work supporting thousands of children every year.

"Over the past few years, David has generously given us a lot of his time, hosting fundraising events and reading to the children, which really brightens their spirits and helps with their rehabilitation. We are delighted that David has chosen to support our work at The Children's Trust."
