Ewan McGregor’s estranged wife is “disappointed” in his decision to file for divorce

The 46-year-old actor split from his wife of 22 years, Eve Mavrakis, last year, and officially filed for divorce this week after citing "irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their break-up, but Eve has now expressed her “upset” at his decision to terminate their marriage

Speaking to the Sun on Sunday newspaper, Eve - who has Clara, 21, Jamyan, 16, Esther, 15 and Anouk, six, with Ewan - said: “It’s disappointing and upsetting but my main concern is our four children are OK.”

The ‘Trainspotting’ actor’s divorce filing was first reported on Friday (19.01.18), where it was claimed he was asking for joint custody of the couple’s brood, but it was also claimed Eve had asked for full custody with visitation rights for Ewan in her response to his divorce petition.

The pair announced their split in October last year but court documents show the date of their separation as May 28th 2017.

Meanwhile, Eve, 51, recently admitted she was not impressed with her estranged husband's Golden Globes speech, where he thanked both her and his current girlfriend.

Ewan started dating his 'Fargo' co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead last year and Eve was unhappy after Ewan mentioned both women when he won the award for Best Actor in a Limited Series.

He said: "I want to take a moment to say thank you to Eve. Who always stood by me for 22 years. To my four children, Clara, Ester, Jamyan and Anouk, I love you.

"There would be no Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead. So thank you very much.”

Eve and Ewan tied the knot in 1995 and he has previously gushed about his wife in interviews.

He has said: "I knew right then that I really wanted to be with her and I knew I wanted to be with her in a different way to all the other many, many, many women I had been with up until that point. And I wasn't wrong. I made the right choice."
