Experts from as far away as the UK and Australia have been in New Zealand this week for a workshop, to look at how a re-entry would work.
Pike River Recovery Agency Chief Executive Dave Gawn says the discussions have been very robust.
He says we can plan for different contingencies and work out what critical information is required to proceed at each stage.
The method for getting into the mine, to reduce risks and costs, would need to be approved by Minister Responsible for Pike River Re-Entry, Andrew Little.
