Commodore Alfred Keating has today lost his bid to maintain name suppression.
The 58-year-old has pleaded not guilty to planting a hidden camera in a unisex bathroom, in July last year.
Herald court reporter Sam Hurley says Keating's lawyers unsuccessfully argued that naming him would bring hardship to his family.
The court heard his daughter also serves in the Navy, and is posted overseas.
Keating's lawyers claimed she might be bullied by other Defence Force staff, if her father was named.
