Police investigating claims prescription pills found in two McDonalds sundaes in west Auckland

Auckland police are investigating claims that prescription pills were found in two sundaes purchased from a McDonalds outlet in west Auckland

The two people say they bought the ice-creams in Te Atatu last night, took them home, and found pills in both after they noticed a funny taste.

They went straight to hospital where they were told the pills were someone's prescription medication.

Detective Senior Sergeant Roger Small says police are trying to establish the nature of the pills.

The McDonalds restaurant says it's helping with the police inquiry.... and has stripped down its milkshake and sundae machine to illustrate how they work.

They're also reviewing CCTV footage and have provided it to the police.
