Lake Taupo is set to benefit after being added to a council and iwi management plan

Waikato Regional Council and Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board have agreed to include the lake and its tributaries in their Joint Management Agreement.

The agreement previously only looked at parts of the Waikato River catchment.

Each party's role in managing Lake Taupo will be considered over the next 18 months.
