Emma Roberts will return to 'American Horror Story' for season eight

The 27-year-old actress will reprise her role as moody Madison Montgomery in the popular HBO horror series for the brand new instalment, which sees season one and three, 'Murder House' and 'Coven' respectively, merge together

In a video posted on her Instagram on Sunday (17.06.18), the 'Scream Queens' star can be seen in her gothic getup, saying her alter ego's famous line: "Surprise bitch! Bet you thought you'd seen the last of me."

Sarah Paulson - who plays Billie Dean Howard, Lana Winters and Cordelia Foxx in 'Murder House, 'Asylum' and 'Coven' respectfully - also teased that the new crossover script is "the best" yet.

She said during a live tweet on the show's creator Ryan Murphy's show 'Pose': "I want you all to know that I think the first script for AHS8 is one of our best ... can't wait for you guys to see it!"

When one fan asked if Taissa Farmiga - who portrayed Violet Harmon in 'Murder House', Zoe Benson in 'Coven' and Sophie Green in 'Roanoke' - makes a comeback, Ryan replied: "All the witches are being asked back."

In season three, Emma's character was strangled to death by Evan Peters' villainous alter-ego Kyle Spencer.

However, it wouldn't be the first time one of the witches has been brought back from the dead, as Taissa's Zoe and Lily Rabe's Misty have been resurrected in the past.

Previously teasing the show's comeback, Ryan said: "You will see so many fan favourites return that you'll feel like it's The Love Boat. It's a very high concept. It's a season unlike anything we've done because there's a big hook to it. There's a huge thing that happens in episode five."

So far Dame Joan Collins, Evan, Sarah and Kathy Bates have all been confirmed for appearances in season eight, which is slated to air in September.
