British foreign secretary Boris Johnson resigns

Boris Johnson resigns as Britain's foreign secretary in the latest fallout over the Government's Brexit strategy.

Boris Johnson has resigned as Britain's foreign secretary in the latest fallout over the Government's Brexit strategy.

Mr Johnson, a vocal supporter of Britain leaving the European Union, informed Prime Minister Theresa May of his resignation just a day after Brexit minister David Davis quit.

"This afternoon, the Prime Minister accepted the resignation of Boris Johnson as foreign secretary," a Downing Street spokesman said.

"His replacement will be announced shortly.

"The Prime Minister thanks Boris for his work."

    More to come.
