Heartbreak for a Northland avocado grower

Thieves have stripped Graeme Burgess' Kaikohe orchard of 70 per cent of its fruit.

The crop was months away from harvest and will never ripen to being edible.

He's lost about a hundred thousand dollars as a result - and anyone buying the fruit will also be out of pocket.

Burgess reported the theft to police and officers have visited the orchard, but don't have much to go on.

Burgess has now made moves to get security cameras installed.
