    A restricted fire season for parts of the South Island's West Coast


    All of the Buller and Grey Districts are in a restricted fire season, as of 8 o'clock this morning.

    Fire and Emergency New Zealand's District Manager Myles Taylor says the change in season means residents in these areas will need a permit to light a fire in the open air.

    He's also reminding residents that activities like mowing or other hot works can cause sparks.
