Porirua's Mayor is hoping more councils get on board with the Three Waters Reforms

Anita Baker's ratepayers are set for more financial pain -- with a 9.71 percent rates increase on the cards for this year.

The rise is largely attributed to ballooning costs of water infrastructure.

The mayor wants more councils to support the Three Waters Reforms -- to reduce their costs.

She says it's just a matter of people realising the costs need to come off their books -- and they will then be able to run councils differently.
