Brisbane have blitzed their way into the semifinals in rugby league's NRL

The Broncos romped to a 26-nil shutout of Melbourne in Brisbane - ending a losing streak of more than 5000 days against the Storm at Suncorp Stadium.

Broncos coach Kevin Walters says the ruthless nature of their defence was the most pleasing aspect of the win.

Defeat wasn't the only bad news for Melbourne - with recently returned star Ryan Papenhuyzen leaving the field in the closing stages with a badly-broken ankle.
