Queenstown Mayor Glyn Lewers says crews cleaning up the town are making good progress, but they are also taking care not to cause more slips

Queenstown Mayor Glyn Lewers says crews cleaning up the town are making good progress, but they are also taking care not to cause more slips

After two days of heavy rain and flooding, the council's clean-up crews are focused on two areas affected by logs, silt and gravel coming off the hills.

Ten properties have been red-stickered and two are yellow-stickered on Reavers Lane near Gorge Road.

Crews have been continuing to clean up and assess Brecon Street, which is still closed.

Lewers says geo-technical engineers have advised a go-slow approach as there are blocks of soil on the hills that could slip further if it starts to rain again.
