Former world tennis number one Simona Halep has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against her four-year omission from competition for breaking anti-doping rules

The two-time grand slam champion was suspended in September after a provisional ban started in October 2022 following the return of a positive test for a banned substance.

If the punishment is upheld, she will be prevented from competing until October 2026, by which time she will be 35.
