    Caroline Wozniacki's outlined what makes the ASB Classic so pivotal to her preparation for the Australian Tennis Open in Melbourne


    She's back in Auckland for an eighth time - the former world number one will face tournament second seed Elina Svitolina in the opening round.

    Wozniacki says she hasn't played any proper matches since the US Open, where she fell in the round of 16 to eventual winner Coco Gauff .



    Defending champion Gauff has drawn fellow American Claire Liu.

    The tournament proper begins tomorrow.
