Armed police have been guarding a property in Kaikohe, after the Northland town's second shooting in less than 24 hours

Armed police have been guarding a property in Kaikohe, after the Northland town's second shooting in less than 24 hours

Emergency services were called to Tawa St around midday today, where a man was bleeding heavily from what was believed to be a single gunshot wound to his leg.

St John treated the patient in a serious condition, before they were airlifted to Whangarei Hospital.

Inquiries continues to find the alleged offender, and Police say it appears to be an isolated incident.

Overnight last night, a man was shot in the neck with an air rifle in a rural area south of Kaikohe.

That man, who was in a serious but stable condition, was flown to Auckland Hospital for surgery.
