Air New Zealand is urging people to check in luggage, rather than cram everything in to their carry-on

Air New Zealand is urging people to check in luggage, rather than cram everything in to their carry-on

The airline says people have been testing the limits of 7 kilograms in weight, and 118 centimetres in length.

If their luggage surpasses that - passengers will be told to check it in - and if necessary, pay for the privilege.

General Manager of Airports Kate Boyer says it doesn't want to remove the option.

She says people want the ability to choose, so if you're planning for a longer trip just check in your luggage.
