A tip of the cap from Phoenix women's coach Paul Temple to two moments of class that helped them to a drought-breaking A-League football victory

Wellington's 3-1 win over Perth in Perth broke a run of nine straight defeats on Australian soil.

Temple feels they were the better team overall - but has singled out Alyssa Whinham's assist for goal number two and Macey Fraser's stunning long-range strike that sealed the three points.

The result lifts the Phoenix into ninth - but just two points behind sixth-placed Newcastle in the race for a top six playoff spot.
