New Zealand seamer Matt Henry's declared Tim Southee a brilliant captain as questions linger over the test skipper's place in the red ball side

Southee finished the home summer with an average of 71.33 - claiming six wickets in four matches.

Henry meanwhile took 23 wickets at an average of 16.95.

With six tests to come in the sub-continent later this year, New Zealand's set to become less reliant on pace.

Henry says Southee's experience is invaluable.

Southee's overseen six wins, two draws and four losses since assuming the test captaincy in 2022.
