DOC's confirmed cost hikes are ahead for Great Walk facilities

The Department of Conservation says all hut and campsite prices will rise 18-percent from July -- except at the West Coast's Paparoa Track, which will rise six-percent.

It says upkeep costs are rising - and prices were ,last reviewed four-years-ago.

Spokesperson, Cat Wilson says the fees don't cover full costs, but the revenue helps with maintenance, repairs, and improvement.

She says DOC's also under increased budget pressure from reduced revenue -- because of inflation and the impacts of extreme weather.
