Guy Molloy is stepping down as coach of the Tall Ferns basketball side

Molloy has guided the New Zealand women's team for the last six years - leading them to a historic fourth-place finish at last year's Asia Cup in Sydney.

He leaves the role after the injury-hit Tall Ferns were unable to secure a spot at this year's Paris Olympics at last month's qualifiers in China.

Molloy will continue in a Technical Director role until the end of the year.

Basketball New Zealand say they'll shortly begin advertising for an interim coach for the national side.
