It believes the tyre company didn't comply with the Fair Trading Act when it allegedly sold non-compliant extended warranties without customers' knowledge or consent.
Fair Trading General Manager Vanessa Horne says Beaurepaires allegedly added Road Hazard Covers to bills that provided tyre care and repairs for the first 12 months after purchase.
She says this includes not providing a comparison of protections offered under the warranty and consumers' rights.
The maximum penalty is 600-thousand dollars for each offence.
