Donnie Wahlberg and his wife sleep together on FaceTime when they are kept apart by work

The New Kids on the Block singer-turned-actor, 54, has been married to actress Jenny McCarthy, 51, since 2014 and has said spending quality time together is the key to the success of their relationship.

He has now revealed on 'The Drew Barrymore Show' about he and Jenny stay as close as possible even when they aren't at home: "I'm away most of the year working.

"She goes away to LA and films 'The Masked Singer'.

"I go to New York and film 'Blue Bloods' - we live in Illinois."

"But we now luxury of being able to sleep together when we're apart. So whoever's going to sleep first just calls the other one."

He stressed their marathon FaceTime sleepovers don't stem from insecurity about what each other are doing, but from the fact they "love to do it".

Donnie added: "It's like, 'Why not?' Right? We're going to miss each other, why wake up saying, 'Oh my God, I missed you. I woke up at three in the morning.'

"I tell her, 'If you wake up at three in the morning and can't sleep, just tap me on the shoulder through the phone and I'll wake up and hang out with you for a while.'"

Donnie and Jenny renewed their vows in 2021 to celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary, with actor saying on Instagram at the time: "I love you more than ever, Mrs Wahlberg. To be blessed with a partner whose goal is to make sure that I love myself more and more each day - is to be truly blessed.

"Thank you for holding me down, while always holding my kite string and letting me fly. You are my soul mate in every way."

Jenny also recently told how Donnie still sends her flowers every Monday to keep their romance alive.

Donnie has sons Xavier, 31, and Elijah, 22, with his 53-year-old former wife Kim Fey - while Jenny has son Evan Asher, 21, with her 53-year-old actor ex-husband John Asher.

The couple met in 2012 while guests on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen'.

They started seeing each other in 2013 and were engaged and married the following year.
