The Police watchdog's found officers weren't responsible for a crash that killed two men fleeing in a car in Wellington last year

The Police watchdog's found officers weren't responsible for a crash that killed two men fleeing in a car in Wellington last year

The driver was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and after Police tried to stop the vehicle, lost control and crashed on a CBD corner.

The IPCA's ruled the officers aren't to blame - but still breached policy.

It says they should've talked through options first, instead of immediately activating lights and sirens and giving chase.

Police acknowledge the report and say the officers involved have received support.
