Very long period southwest swell 2 metres west of Farewell Spit to Hawera. Tuesday : Southeast 25 knots, rising to 40 knots in the morning. Sea becoming very rough. West of Farewell Spit to Hawera: long period southwest swell 2 metres. Southeast swell 2 metres developing. East of Farewell Spit to Hawera: southeast swell 1 metre developing. Poor visibility in rain. Outlook following 3 days: Wednesday: Southerly 35 knots, becoming easterly 20 knots west of Stephens Island in the morning. Becoming southeast 30 knots everywhere in the afternoon. Very rough sea easing. West of Farewell Spit to Hawera - Moderate southwest swell, and moderate southeast swell dying out. Thursday: Southeast 25 knots, easing to southerly 10 knots later. Rough sea easing. Moderate southwest swell west of Farewell Spit to Hawera, easing. Friday: Southerly 15 knots.
