Motorists travelling at the top of the South Island for Easter face significant delays - and advised to detour via Lewis Pass

Motorists travelling at the top of the South Island for Easter face significant delays - and advised to detour via Lewis Pass

State Highway One is closed between Kaikoura and Riverlands - likely for several hours - after a crash south of Ward.

People driving between Blenheim and Christchurch are being encouraged to take the Lewis Pass route - adding about two hours.

NZTA says it's essential people plan - especially those travelling with EVs or Picton ferry connections.
