Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, also Horowhenua and Kapiti Coast Mainly fine, but a few showers possible about coastal Hawkes Bay later today. Wanganui, Taihape and Manawatu Fine spells, but a few showers north of Palmerston North. Wellington and Wairarapa A few showers developing this morning, retreating to the Wairarapa coast in the afternoon. Buller and Westland Showers, clearing from the south during the day. Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury Fine, apart from showers about Banks Peninsula with snow to 400 metres later today. Otago, Southland and Fiordland Scattered showers, with some hail in east, easing this evening. Snow to 400 metres. Southwest gales, gusting 100 km/h about the coast.
