Taylor Swift announces new album after suspenseful countdown

The US singer's new album will be called The Life of a Showgirl, with the 35-year-old announcing it on her official website with an orange glittery backdrop.

Taylor Swift has announced a new studio album called The Life of a Showgirl.

The announcement comes after an official countdown was put up on the singer's official website an orange glittery backdrop with the words "expires August 12 at 12:12am ET [Eastern Time]."

As soon as the announcement was made on the website, a snippet on the podcast New Heights — which her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce host — was uploaded to Instagram.

While on the podcast, she opened up a suitcase with the letters T and S and pulling out her new album out of the case.

"This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl," she said while pulling up an album that has been blurred in the Instagram reel.

When the countdown had finished the singer's official website had crashed for just over a minute.

Fans have taken to X to share their excitement about the upcoming album.

    Hints stir up fan frenzy

The US singer is known for giving fans little hints or Easter eggs when she is announcing something and this announcement was no different.

On Instagram, the account Taylor Nation which is part of the singer's official marketing team, shared a bunch of photos of Swift in orange outfits from the Eras tour.

The images complimented the orange, glittery backdrop that was on her website during the countdown before the album announcement.

As this is the singer's 12th album, Swift left fans with major clues by making the announcement on the 12th at 12:12am, local time.

A date for the album's release has not been announced yet.
