    Campers at Waihi Beach have been forced to evacuate this morning amid rising floodwaters


    Emergency services were called to the beach just before 3 this morning when campers phoned emergency services.

    A local has told Newstalk ZB the area is prone to flooding.

    Ninety millimetres of rain fell at Tauranga Airport this morning - 23 of them in just one hour.
