Phil Goff's promising less diesel and more electrification if he is re-elected Auckland Mayor

He says transport emissions make up 47 percent of overall carbon emissions - and that has to change.

Goff says if he's still in charge next year, the Council will purchase only electric and hybrid vehicles for its passenger cars.

He's also speaking with the government about bringing forward the conversion of the city's bus fleet to electric and hydrogen.

Goff says Auckland Council has to lead by example, otherwise it can't expect Aucklanders to do their part in reducing carbon emissions.
