The launch of a long-awaited petrol station in the South Island - could be a sign of things to come

Discount fuel retailer, Gull, is offering regular 91 at a dollar and 91 cents and diesel for a dollar 30 on its opening day in Maheno, south of Oamaru .

Gull general manager Dave Bodger says they're opening a site in Gore later this month.

And he says Christchurch... may soon be in for a win.

Bodger says they're planning for stations in the city and aiming to have the first up and running within a year.
