It's been a busy night for firefighters on the South Island's West Coast

It's been a busy night for firefighters on the South Island's West Coast

Crews have been battling two large house fires since the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were first called to Alymer Street in Ross, around half past two, to a house that was well engulfed in fire.

A spokesperson says crews were also sent to an address on Queen Street in Westport at around 5 - and firefighters are still at the scene trying to get the blaze under control.

No injuries have been reported, however investigators will still be heading to both scenes later this morning, to determine the causes.
