Maritime NZ's Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand says the climbers made a distress call at 5.30 last night.
One had broken their arm in two places, had a concussion and a badly gashed leg.
The other climber had roped the injured climber onto a steep slope to prevent him from falling and suffering further injuries.
An attempt to get to the scene last night by helicopter was thwarted by heavy cloud.
It was able to rescue the pair and fly them to Greymouth Hospital at 7.30 this morning.
