A man facing charges after an alleged boat-rage attack in Tairua has been granted bail

John Frederick Dixon has pleaded NOT guilty in the Thames District Court today.

The 58-year-old is charged with using a vessel as a weapon, operating it dangerously and using it to assault a woman.

A video of the attack on January 23 was shared widely on social media, and ultimately led to the case being brought before the court.

The judge has released Dixon under strict conditions of curfew, non-association, and residence.

There will be a three-week adjournment.
